What this session covers
This 3-hour workshop is designed to help you revise Module A: Narratives That Shape Our World and prepare specifically for the Hornsby Girls Year 11 English Advanced Yearly exam.
Working within your chosen text stream, we’ll examine the key ideas, characters and textual techniques in either Utopia and The Tempest, or Macbeth and The Crucible. You’ll learn how to develop stronger interpretations, make meaningful connections between texts and support your arguments with well-selected evidence.
We’ll also break down challenging and commonly examined question types, including how to interpret unfamiliar questions, build a clear thesis and structure a sophisticated comparative response. Throughout the workshop, you’ll receive Hornsby Girls-specific exam advice, common mistakes to avoid and practical strategies for writing effectively under timed conditions.
By the end of the session, you’ll have a stronger understanding of your texts, a clearer approach to comparative analysis and greater confidence in planning and writing a high-quality exam response.
